Apparently my home buyers aren’t quite as bad as I thought they were?

I mean, my home is still set to sell for less than I think it is worth, but something magical happened recently. Our condo inspection was last week and it went as smooth as it could have been.

I don’t even know how, every person I’ve talked to tells me that when an inspection is done, one of two things happen as a response from their buyers:

  1. “Here are 30 things we feel are broken to some degree. Fix it. Now.”
  2. “Give us $10,000 to fix all the repairs we feel this property needs.”

What we got was a signed, passed inspection with no requests for repairs.

What.

I don’t even know how to react. Happiness is the clear answer, but this whole process has made me rather numb and cautious about feeling anything.

My brain is sure that at any point that I allow myself to feel calm or relieved, something new will secretly emerge out of the darkness for me to stress about.

But no, it’s real, I’ve seen the document. We’re officially pending. Not “on the market” not “pending inspection”, just “pending, period.

To celebrate, we visited our house again, which now has painted walls and huge boxes with the hardware of my house in them.

Is it happening? I think it’s actually happening.

I think I won’t know what to do with myself once this is all said and done.

I’ll certainly have to figure out how to talk about food on here again.

Let’s see…

These snickerdoodle bars are sweet in their simplicity. A standard cookie dough is spread out into a pan and baked, then while still pipping hot, topped with a generous sprinkling of cinnamon sugar.

This sugar dances and melds with the bars in the heat, achieving adhesion without the need of rolling with the dough prior to baking. The result allows you to have all the cinnamon sugar of a snickerdoodle cookie, without scalding the cinnamon in the oven due to the required longer baking time of a bar versus a cookie.

Snickerdoodle Bars

Adapted from Bake or Break

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • cinnamon-sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  3. Using an electric mixer, beat butter, brown sugar, and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Add vanilla, and mix just until combined.
  4. Add flour mixture, mixing on low speed until combined.
  5. Transfer dough to prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake 30 minutes, or until set and lightly golden.
  6. Sprinkle warm bars with cinnamon-sugar. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Note: Bake or Break recommends a cinnamon-sugar ratio of about 1/2 sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of cinnamon, depending on your desired spice level. I went with about 1 1/2 tablespoons, but it can depend on your cinnamon (type, age, etc).
