The most stressful thing about baking for a blog is trying to make everything look pretty.
I mean, I always want the end product to look pretty, but I don’t want to have to worry about how the shine of the cherries look in the sunlight and how many crumbs are on my white plate.
Everything takes longer when you’re worried about what angle the whisk is sitting at in your bowl.
But I do it. I do it for your guys.
But sometimes, you can’t even get the final beauty shot.
Exhibit A, above.
Let’s see.. what’s going on with me lately.
I’m 8 episodes into Orange is the New Black… was Donna from That 70s Show always this hot? I think it’s the eyeliner. I love a good cateye.
I’m horribly addicted to threes. My top score is 24,921, which sounds impressive, but not if you hear how often I play.
I’m down 3 out of the 10 pounds I am aiming to lose… and would really rather be eating chocolate than the little bowl (and I do mean little. Prep bowl little) of blueberries next to me.
I love fruit, I do, but a girl needs her chocolate. Not that I’ve cut out chocolate (I would never), but if you’re trying to shed a lumpy tire, not every single baked good can be oozing with chocolate.
That’s how I gained back the 10 (now 7) I have on.
There’s that saying, “American as apple pie”.
Does that mean I’m breaking some sort of international rule if I make apple pie for Canadian Thanksgiving?
I sure hope not because I made apple pie for Canadian Thanksgiving…
It’s probably cool.
I spend a lot of time baking.
I spend even more time playing video games!
I love to play all kinds (well… I guess I’m not really into sports games) but there’s one game in particular I keep going back to.
League of Legends.
I’m not going to bore you all with the details of the game, but what you do need to know about is Lulu.
This is Bittersweet Lulu. She is a magical little purple yordle who likes to get up to mischief. But most importantly… sometimes she turns her enemies into hopping, helpless little cupcakes.
One of the tough things about transitions is that sometimes they can be slow and drawn out. In terms of my home transition, this means for the past month or so (and continuing for the next couple months) I’ve been living in a “staging” house, free of clutter.
A lot of our house “clutter” was an over abundance of kitchen tools, courtesy of me and my interests. So when it came time to put our house up for sale, lots of them went into storage.
Maybe a little more got put into storage than I wanted.
I didn’t understand rhubarb for a long time.
I avoided it. I heard it was bitter and vile and that its leaves were… poisonous?
Jeepers, anyone in their right mind would avoid it.
My Banana Banana Bread is currently my most popular post by far, thanks to a little viral repinning on Pinterest.
I have a feeling that the prefix “gluten-free” on this recipe will prevent it from ever reaching that level of success, but that’s okay.
I didn’t make it for views, I made it so my friend would have one more thing to eat at Easter Brunch.
